Social Impact
The Wood Shack is one of seven social enterprises operated by JERICHO to help people who face real and significant challenges in getting a job. These could include trauma, insufficient work experience, health & wellbeing needs, education barriers and communication challenges.
We do this by giving them a real work opportunity and individualised support to ultimately help them progress into sustainable employment.
Last year, we supported 16 people including five survivors of modern slavery, 100% of those who completed their project progressed into a positive outcome and we generated an estimated £200,000 in social value.
What is it like to be a Wood Shack apprentice?
“The best thing about my apprenticeship has been learning about my mental health and wellbeing. I have gained the confidence to speak to people and it's helped me to realise that I’m very good at customer facing roles.”
